How To Create The Perfect Support Team To Catapult Your Success

I recently spent the whole day with my biz besties strategizing and breaking down our businesses. As I drove home from such a powerful day, it hit me how different my support system is now compared to a decade ago. I’ve never felt so encouraged, uplifted and empowered by the people around me before.

What changed?

Wise words from a life coach I had in my mid-twenties. She challenged me to take a look at the five people I spent the most time with. She asked me to take a look at where their lives were, what they were focused on, how they approached life and in turn the impact they had on my own life.

This was such an impactful exercise that motivated me to make some changes to my inner circle. Almost a decade later, I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for this exercise.

I can recall one specific memory that I shared with the ladies in my FB community. I had a friend who I had been friends with for years. However, looking back now I realize I spent many years playing small around her. The story I shared is about when I started my first blog, Life of A Popp Star. I had wanted to start a blog for a while and was insecure and anxious about it. I took the leap one day and started writing on it faithfully. When I shared with my friend that I had started this blog she totally bashed it. She immediately questioned what I would write about, who would even read it, why did I even want a blog, what was even the point. I was crushed. My limiting mindset clung to her disparaging comments and I even stopped posting on my blog for a little bit.

Luckily, I didn’t let her words hold me back for long. I put in the work to separate myself from her limiting comments and the relationship.

Whatever you’re working towards in your life, make sure you

Stay away from people who

  • Are always negative
  • Choose to focus on their problems instead of solutions
  • Belittle your dreams
  • Make everything about them
